SIMAS stands for Sistem Informasi Masjid — the Mosque Information System run by Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), through the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance (Ditjen Bimas Islam). It is the national database of mosques and prayer rooms (mushalla), and the front door for mosque registration and government assistance applications.
What is inside SIMAS
By SIMAS's own count, the system holds 319,347 mosques and 395,122 mushalla across 38 provinces. You can search a mosque by name or area and see it on a map, with its category — from national and grand mosques down to neighbourhood and workplace prayer rooms. Operators at the KUA, regency/city Kemenag offices, provincial offices and the centre verify the data, so a listing here is the official record.
Registering your mosque
If your mosque or mushalla is not listed yet, register it online at simas.kemenag.go.id or through your local KUA or Kemenag office. Prepare the supporting documents first: the decree establishing the mosque management (SK pendirian or pembentukan takmir), proof of land status such as a waqf document or certificate, profile and address details with map coordinates, and a softcopy photo of the building (max 1 MB). Your application is then verified by the local operator.
Why registration matters
A registered mosque receives a National Mosque ID number and a registration certificate (SKT). That ID makes the mosque findable on digital maps, lets it open an official bank account in the mosque's name (for example at BSI), and is the base requirement for government assistance programmes.
Mosque assistance through SIMAS
When a building and rehabilitation assistance round opens, applications are filed online through SIMAS or the PUSAKA app, and your mosque must already be registered in SIMAS to apply. The 2026 round offered Rp50 million for a mosque and Rp35 million for a mushalla, with applications open 12 to 25 October 2026 — that window has now closed, so use the time to complete your SIMAS data and documents for the next round.
Finding a mosque as a visitor
You do not need an account to use the public side of SIMAS. Travellers and new residents use the search and map to find the nearest registered mosque or mushalla, check its category and see its location before going. For mosque managers, the same public view is a quick audit: search your own mosque and confirm the name, address point and photo shown to the public are right, because worshippers and donors rely on that listing to find you.
